Why did you choose to study Physio?

I completed my Physio Degree whilst working as a Remedial Massage Therapist. I was very keen to challenge myself further to understand how I could help my clients who presented with such a wide range of musculoskeletal and other pain related conditions.

What do you enjoy about being a Physio?

I find it excellent to have had prior experience as a massage therapist, personal trainer, Physical Education Teacher, and swimming coach. I find I can integrate components of all these skills within a Physio Session. I am really looking forward to joining the Team at PPFC. All the Physios have a broad range of interests and a wealth of experience practicing and treating patients. It will be great to continue to evolve my own learning in these other specialised areas within our Profession.

What are some of the conditions you have found to be most rewarding to treat?

Having experienced lower back pain myself, and having learnt how to treat and look after this, I find that I can be both empathetic as well as enjoy the challenge of helping someone else to not have pain. Back pain can be so debilitating, so I really enjoy seeing my patients be able to get on with and enjoy their active lifestyle once their pain has settled.  

What is your approach to exercise?

I work with clients of all ages and levels of fitness and find it very rewarding seeing them progress and achieve their goals – be it feeling less tired at the end of their work day, playing with their kids, going hiking with friends or returning to their sport. I consider looking after and maintaining your physical fitness is imperative and a foundation to enjoying a happier life.

What are some of the interests you have outside of work?

I have done a lot of adventure travel over the years. This has included completing the Kokoda Trail in 2011 and other challenging treks through China, India, Vietnam.

After work you will find me cycling, running at the beach or weight training. I dedicate my spare time to my wife and my friends.
